Our Story

पत्रं पुष्पं फलं तोयं यो मे भक्त्या प्रयच्छति ।
"Whoever offers Me with devotion a leaf, a flower, a fruit or a little water, that I accept." (Bhagavad Gita 9.26)

A long way from home

For many years I lived abroad, in lecture halls and libraries, reading the great philosophers of the world. I argued about truth with Plato, about duty with Kant, about freedom with the existentialists. It was a rich life of the mind. But on quiet evenings, far from the sound of temple bells, I noticed something the books could not explain: an ache for the simple rituals I had grown up with. My grandmother's morning puja. The marigold mala on the door at Diwali. The fragrance of mogra in the mandir.

Philosophy taught me to ask questions. It took me a long time to understand that my own tradition had already asked the deepest ones, and had answered many of them not with arguments, but with a flower placed at the feet of the divine.

Why flowers?

The Gita does not ask for gold. It asks for a leaf, a flower, a fruit, a little water, offered with bhakti. In that one verse lies a whole philosophy: the value of an offering is not its price, but the heart with which it is given. A single fresh rose, given with love, is worth more than a garden given with pride.

When I came home, I found that this simplest of offerings had become difficult. Flowers bought in a hurry, wilted by noon. Garlands of doubtful freshness. Families in apartments far from any phool mandi, with no time before the morning aarti. I wanted to change that, in a small way, as my seva.

Why "Chardhan"?

For centuries, pilgrims have walked to the Char Dham, the four sacred abodes of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri, carrying flowers for the deity at the end of a long journey. Not everyone can make that journey. But every home has a mandir, and every mandir deserves fresh flowers. Chardhan is our humble way of bringing the spirit of that pilgrimage to your doorstep: the devotion, the freshness, the care.

What we believe

  • Freshness is respect. A flower offered to the divine should be as fresh as the devotion behind it. We pack every order on the day it is dispatched.
  • Honesty is dharma. We tell you plainly what you will receive, how long it should last, and what to do if something goes wrong.
  • Every occasion is sacred. Roses for an anniversary, rajnigandha for a quiet evening, marigold for Ganesh ji, lotus for Maa Lakshmi. Love and devotion are not separate things.
  • Farmers first. India's flower farmers rise before dawn so that our gods may be adorned. We want to honour their work.

Our promise to you

Whether you are offering marigolds at Diwali, sending roses to someone you love, or simply placing a fresh lotus before Maa Lakshmi on a Friday, we will treat your order as an offering, because it is one.
